Welcome to Bixxis:
BIXXIS opened in 2015 inspired by the desire of Doriano De Rosa and his daughter Martina to produce a generation of steel and titanium racing bicycle frames which embodied their taste for true cratsmanship.
Experience and innovation:
BIXXIS is built on Doriano’s 40-years' experience as a frame-builder and student of innovative technological solutions. His and his daughter's passion for cycling is the foundation for the creation of beautiful artisanal bicycles for modern cyclists.
This is why they chose the acronym BIXXIS, which means Italian Bicycles for the twenty-first (XXI) century. Bixxis’ philosophy grows out of essential values: the taste for well-made things, tradition but combined with their passion for innovation all coupled with sensitivity to the needs of cycling enthusiasts, both professional and amateur.
A Taste of Unicity*:
BIXXIS products are entirely hand-made. Each BIXXIS frame is 100% made in Italy, at their Seregno workshop, just few miles north of Milan. They have chosen to use steel and titanium to make frames last longer, and maintain their value. By employing TIG welding BIXXIS creates extremely light metal frames.
Listening their clients is fundamental: they listen before they speak and they also speak little because doing is better than saying. Doriano and Martina will listen to your requirements and queries with an ulmost attention born out of their deep attachment to every frame they produce. Each Bixxis is unique, as are tastes, passions, expectations from each cyclist. Every geometry is the outcome of an in-depth study with specific drawings built from each clients specific requirements.
Talking about unicity BIXXIS wants to offer an original bicycle from its individual elements. For instance, each BIXXIS integrates a customized dropout and is built from proprietary Columbus tubes, and includes design features such as X-Stays which give the frame more strength and optimize on-road performances.
Love for real things:
BIXXIS clients are genuine people who love real things and are passionate about them. Each BIXXIS bicycle is exacly this: it’s more than an object, it’s an act of love and truth towarsd cycling – that’s exactly what we feel every day. As every day, you’ll be welcome at the Bixxis workshop.

Specialized Sagan Collection brings to life the fearless racing style of the 70’s rouleurs with Peter Sagan’s larger-than-life personality at its heart. It’s the ultimate expression of this disruptive rider and his stylish ways—unmistakable and unmistakably Peter. Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for racing. Grand Tour top steps, Classic’s Monuments—they’re in our DNA. But sometimes riding simply to ride, riding for the love of riding, is just what we need. And this is what the Aethos lives for. Sure, it’s given nothing up to performance, and happens to be the lightest frame out there, but with no compromise to style. Aethos: Billions of calculations in the pursuit of one thing—the perfect ride. And with this frame set, Lakeside Bicycles found the perfect canvas to create the perfect ride. By combining the Campagnolo Super Record EPS disc gruppo and Campagnolo's matchless Bora WTO wheelset with the Sagan Aethos frameset we are proud to offer you a unique bicycle unavailable anywhere else. The Aethos frame has been designed with the perfect combination of ultimate ride feel, light weight, and style—from accelerating up steep pitches and descending technical descents, to all-day saddle comfort on even the longest coffee rides, the Aethos hits the mark. But how, you ask? By reinventing the traditional road shape found on bikes of the past, Specialized subtly altered these shapes to deliver massive gains in stiffness and balance, all without affecting weight or durability. Pair that with an entirely new layup and process that they’ve perfected over multiple decades and you have the lightest frame out there (585 grams, S-Works, size 56cm). The Aethos is more than just a new bike, it’s the first of a new breed. A featherweight frame is useless without confidence-inspiring ride characteristics, which is why the Aethos was developed to have the perfect balance of front and rear stiffness combined with exceptional ride quality. By studying the flexing and breathing of carbon fiber, Specialized was able to implement groundbreaking findings about how forces flow through frames. Just a few pedal strokes and you’ll realize this sublime ride sets a new standard. Every detail, from the derailleur hangers to the fork expander plug have been designed with style, weight, and durability in mind—everything in pursuit for the perfect ride. Add to all this the ultimate in modern drive trains and there you have it, the perfect bike at a surprisingly reasonable price. Resistance is useless ENDURANCE ROAD/ GRAVEL RACE A study in refined ruggedness—this is one bike to rule them all. Named for the road that brought pioneers over the Cascade Mountains on the final leg of the Oregon Trail, the Barlow is built for epic adventures. It draws on the aggressive geometry and precise handling of our award-winning Skyline road bike, while also maintaining the comfort and toughness of an off-road machine. Some might label this design “adventure rider,” “gravel racer,” or “endurance road,” but Sage Titanium’s versatile frame transcends those conventional categories. No, the Barlow relishes the rigors of the dirt while begging for the speed of the road. It loads up for a tour and can handle the long haul. It does not compromise, and it flashes with the class of titanium. It does it all. It’s not constrained to smaller gearing, like a cyclocross bike. It’s not limited by narrow rubber, like a road bike. It’s suited for any adventure at any speed. Additionally, the combination of an oversized head tube and bi-ovalized down tube provides a stable platform for snappy acceleration and precise, confident handling, on or off the road. The refinement trickles down to the finer details on the Barlow. It’s packed with stealth, technical minutia that make substantial impacts. Integrated fender mounts, Bento Box Top Tube storage, and three water bottle cage mounts facilitate any extended wanderings away from civilization. Whether adventure takes you through a rotating pace line or over rugged mountain passes, the Barlow begs to ride it all in style. Available in standard geometries or as a custom frame. For more information please contact Sage at SageTitanium.Com or the Sage experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or by email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com. ENDURO/ ALL-MOUNTAIN: THE REFINED RIPPER Shred the preconceptions of an all-mountain trail bike. That philosophy inspired the Flow Motion–a hardcore hardtail born on the legendary trails of Sandy Ridge, Oregon, and handmade right here in Portland. Don’t let the lusty titanium frame fool you– we built this burly beauty to test the limits. Launch it. Rip it. Climb it. Whip it. Drop it. Flow. This is the refined ripper. As trails have progressed into ever steeper ranges and boundaries are pushed by the riders who ride them, the Flow Motion is designed to tackle all that comes with going downhill fast. Whether it is giant rock slabs, super steep gradients, large drops, step-ups or step-downs, the Flow Motion will tackle it all. Unburdened by the complexity of pivots, the Flow Motion is light and snappy. Launch doubles with stability thanks to the extended reach and internal dropper post routing. Send it with the confidence, knowing that you will be landing on the strongest USA Made 3/2.5 titanium tubing. Session those sections until you can session no more. Push the limits. Find your Flow. XC RACE BIKE: THE REFINED RIPPER The gun fires. The race has begun. It’s an all-out sprint to make it to the first chokepoint on the course before the inevitable bottleneck will occur. Elbows out, head down, eyes focused straight ahead, your desire is to get to the singletrack without any delay. You split riders as you sprint past them for that small place visible up the trail, and once you have gained your position the real race begins. The Optimator was designed to be a World Cup level XC race bike. Using inspiration from the current XCO World Cup Courses that the top professionals ride, Optimator has one purpose and that is to get you to the line first. A 69.5° head angle combined with an 83mm Trail figure will keep you on your toes as you are able to navigate the most technical sections of the course due to the agile steering. The short chainstays provide plenty of snappy acceleration when you need to bridge a gap or distance the rider behind you. When the course gets super technical, use the internally routed dropper post to get your saddle out of the way so you can attack the features in front of you. Racing is all about making choices in the heat of the battle so that the outcome will be in your favor. Jumping a rooted/ rocky section to save a few extra seconds or picking the right lines as the course evolves over the duration of a race will help ensure a very good race at the very least. Racing on a bike designed to get you to the finish line first is the final piece of the puzzle in your quest for the race win. The Sage Titanium Optimator is your XC weapon of choice. The ’Cross Racer’s ‘Cross Bike Bring on the tempests. Bring on the muck. Bring on the drops, the roots and the ruts. The PDXCX begs for it all. Born in the heinous mud of the Pacific Northwest and bred on the technical courses of the Cross Crusade, it’s a cyclocross race machine. This is a ‘cross racer’s ‘cross bike. Drawing inspiration from classic Belgian cyclocross bikes, the PDXCX adds modern touches of refinement to those traditional frame designs. We purpose built the fourth iteration of this frame to power through the mire and greasy corners with precise stability. Bottom Bracket height and short chainstays are optimized to improve handling and snap while preserving the nimble characteristics that make the geometry a perfect race setup. The ovalized top tube and oversized head tube stiffen the front end for the confidence and precision to nail the perfect line. The bike is designed nail the apexes and slam through ruts all the way to the finish line. As modern hydraulic brakes have become more reliable, internally routed brake lines are less of a hassle than they used to be due to the reliability of the equipment. All Sage bikes now use internal routing for our brake lines but for those who still want the ease of maintenance with an externally routed brake, we can accomodate that. All Sage bikes now come with our custom designed 3D printed titanium dropouts that are T-Type compatible. Using these 3D printed components allows us higher quality control for the brake mounts, alignment, and they are considerably lighter than a standard dropout setup The bike is bombproof and built to withstand the most diabolical racing and riding conditions. The titanium construction offers a much higher strength-to-weight ratio compared with other metal frames, and the 3/2.5-titanium alloy tubing has exceptional corrosion resistance. Blast every nook and crevice with the power washers—this bike will thrive and shine, not wither and rust. In the event of a scuff, fear not! The raw industrial finish is one of the most durable and repairable of titanium finishes. Any scratches can be buffed out with a Scotch-Brite pad, restoring that lusty, like-new sheen to this burly beauty.
The Winner: We upped the ante with Sage’s award-winning road machine, the Skyline, by setting it up to be the All-Road/ All-Round Road Race bike it was always destined to be. “Precise,” “agile,” “terrific craftsmanship” and “titanium rocket” are the phrases of choice from professional testers. But this isn’t just a bike for the cycling media. It’s a sleek and sexy titanium space ship built to inspire the masses. With a design that blends refined simplicity and outright performance, the Skyline occupies an enviable niche in the cycling world. It climbs mountains as confidently as it rips sinuous descents, and it launches snappy attacks without compromising comfort on all-day adventures. It’s a looker in the showroom that shines even brighter out on the road. Named after the serpentine Skyline Boulevard that winds along the spine of the West Hills in Portland, Oregon, the bike is built for speed and stability, whether railing through corners or sprinting out of the saddle. It reimagines traditional construction with touches of refinement, blending the class of the past with the performance of the future. The thin-profile seat stays nod to the traditional race bike, yet the frame incorporates high-tech touches–like flat mount disc brakes, a 1.75” down tube, 3/2.5 titanium alloy, compact frame design, an oversized head tube, and even frame fender mounts for winter training. Combined together, these elements give rise to the perfect modern take of a high-performance road race bike. The finer details, like 3D printed titanium dropouts, are deliberate selections based on a blend of strength and stability. Full internal routing options available so that you can hide ALL of your cables and wires for the ultimate in sleek design aesthetics. The lusty shimmer of raw titanium finishes off the Skyline’s show-stopping look. It’s the stuff of dreams for the discerning cyclist. It wows. It rips. It inspires. MONSTER GRAVEL RACE/ ADVENTURE RIDING This is not another gravel bike. The Sage Titanium Storm King is a catalyst to new adventures. It’s a drop-bar beast designed to fuel your exploration, taking you deeper while getting increasingly more remote with every pedal stroke. The Storm King is not only designed for the bike packer who tackles multi-day adventures like the Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder, but also for the gravel racer who looks to conquer events like the Unbound 200 or Grinduro. Storm King is a rock-gobbling animal with a geometry to keep the rider more comfortable on technical terrain. Named after the ribbon of singletrack outside of Bend, Oregon, Storm King is ready to get shreddy with a design ideal for gravel racing or all day adventures. Utilizing a custom designed 3D chainstay yoke, the Storm King is able to maintain minimal length chainstays for snappy acceleration and quick power transfer capabilities. The Storm King touts three bottle cages, rack mounts front and rear, and bosses for either bolt-on food bags or bolt-on frame bags. All that, plus full internal cable routing for the brakes, dropper post, and even shift lines for an ultra-clean look. Our custom chainstay yoke gives you two different tire size options depending on what type of riding you want to do. Looking to go race and want a wider gear range? Run a Gravel Yoke for a 2X drivetrain configuration and 700x50mm tire clearance. All day adventure is what you are after? Then choose a 1X drivetrain and tire clearance up to 650×2.4? for the ultimate in max tire size capabilities. We like to think of Sage Titanium bicycles as the perfect canvas for riders to make them what they want. Whether it is with mud splatter from the trail, or fully custom one-off builds that redefine the term “rolling art”. Whatever your adventure, grab your GPS, pack a lunch, and take the Storm King past the border of your comfort zone. SUSPENSION FUELED ADVENTURE TO TAKE YOU FARTHER THAN EVER BEFORE This is the evolution of greatness. As the Storm King continues to push boundaries, it was only natural that suspension technology would catch up with the gravel bike scene to continue that push forward. When suspension forks first came out for Mountain bikes, many people scoffed at them. Today, we could not imagine our bikes without them. The same will be true for gravel bikes. The Storm King is designed to go anywhere and the advent of suspension continues that trend. The “GP” refers to “Gifford Pinchot”, as in the “Gifford Pinchot National Forest”. It is one of the oldest national forests within the United States and encompasses 1,312,000 acres with multiple mountain ranges including Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams. The forest is located in Southwest Washington State and is larger than the state of Delaware. It is here where the Storm King GP was inspired. Rough roads, steep climbs, and backcountry experiences are where the Storm King has always shined, but the new GP version allows you to go deeper and farther than ever before. Each GP comes with a full suite of options ranging from multiple bottle mounts to varied tire size options. Internal routing options help keep the bike looking clean and ready to be loaded down with bags or gear for those extended journeys. Our custom chainstay yoke gives you two different tire size options depending on what type of riding you want to do. Looking to go race and want a wider gear range? Run a Gravel Yoke for a 2X drivetrain configuration and 700x50mm tire clearance. All day adventure is what you are after? "Seven of the last 10 Tours de France have been conquered on a DOGMA, and the latest generation is now ready to continue that legacy of success. This is the culmination of all of our skill and experience, a masterpiece of engineering that offers advancements in handling, comfort, and aerodynamics all wrapped in a package that can climb, descend, and sprint with equal flair. Whatever the road throws at you, the DOGMA F is always the right bike." When you have a frame that delivers not only incredible efficiency in lab and wind tunnel tests, but also regularly carries top riders to the podium throughout the road race calendar, improvements tend to be incremental refinements developed through even more advanced analysis and real world testing. In it's day the Pinarello Dogma F12 frameset was the benchmark, which didn't give the deranged geniuses at Pinarello even one moment's pause in their perpetual quest to build the world's next super bike. Pinarello has long stated that weight is less an issue than the balance of aero efficiency, maximized power transfer, superior handling, and a more forgiving ride- but when faced with the excellence of the Dogma F12, it became clear that by assessing the whole assembly of the integrated cockpit and frameset, the overall set-up could be made lighter as well. By focusing on the seatpost, handlebars, and fork, as well as the frame, they were able to make the entire frame system 9% lighter than the F12 Disk. Enter the Dogma F Disk. As a system, the Pinarello Dogma F Disk saves upwards of 265 grams compared to it's predecessor, while simultaneously gaining 12% stiffness around the bottom bracket. Reducing weight equals watts saved, but what is incredible is that the frame system weighs so little without compromising aerodynamics, handling, or ride quality. In fact, the Dogma F Disk has a lower drag than the Dogma F rim brake frame- a first for Pinarello. Much of the disc brake aero advantage comes with the development of the new Onda fork for the Dogma F. The forks profile and cross sections improve fork and wheel integration, aerodynamically speaking, in order to smooth the air over the leading edge of the bike. Add in the Flatback aero shape design with it's truncated aerofoil for aerodynamic advantage, that is compliant to the 3:1 UCI rule, and you have excellent aero performance and low lateral wind resistance. Beginning with the Dogma FPX AK61 Magnesium and continuing through the F10 and F12 The highest quality, most advanced materials have always been employed in Dogma-series framesets. The F Disk features the superlative properties of Torayca's T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology. By refining the frame shapes and designs in the computer and wind tunnel, some weight directly came off the frame itself, while making several marginal aero gains that deliver a 4.8% improvement in aero efficiency over the F12 Disk, delivering a potential 2.6 watts saved at 50 km/hour. A modest but real gain that advances the demonstrated excellence of the F12 Disk. When you factor in the dropout to dropout Asymmetric engineering and design, which has long been proven effective for optimal power transfer, impeccable tracking, incredible handling at speed or while descending, and you have true cycling transcendence. September 6th, 1987. Last moments of the World Championships of Road Cycling. After nearly 7 hours of racing, the rain that had been falling steadily on the circuit since the morning stopped. The crowd of spectators that had gathered to witness the event now had the chance to see clearly the most talented riders in the world engaging in the battle for the rainbow jersey. The stakes were high, but until that moment the race hadn’t been a bit of a yawn. Just a few attacks, none of them decisive enough to mark a turning point. Going into the climb at the beginning of the last lap, the Irish rider Stephen Roche attacked. Sean Kelly, the other star wearing the green jersey, stayed on his wheel. Their team had performed an excellent job. The action split the group. The riders in the front got rid of most of the competitors, and only 14 racers were left. At this point, there was no other choice to chase the victory but trying to escape. The Dutch Van Vliet got away. The German Golz followed him. Roche closed the break, and so did Sorensen and Winterberg. The group of 5 established a small gap, while the riders behind didn’t react. It seemed like they were expecting for Moreno Argentin, the defending World Champion, to chase them down. Italy was the strongest team in the peloton, and everyone considered Argentin the race favorite. But the gap widened. Four hundred meters from the finish line, Roche launched his attack. There was a narrow space between Sorensen and the barriers on the left side of the road. Roche daringly threw himself right there. While he was approaching, Sorensen inadvertently moved to the left, shutting down that space Roche had chosen to be his way to the finish line. The chances for the Irish to pass between Sorensen and the barriers were reducing at every pedal stroke. But when Sorensen and Roche seemed so close that the action could a massive crash, the Danish moved to the right and Roche was out into the open. He pedaled as hard as he could. This time Argentin responded, but it was too late. Sprinting certainly wasn’t Roche’s secret weapon. He would have probably lost every time he’d found himself in a sprint with Golz and Van Vliet. Not that day. On that day Stephen Roche won the 1987 World Championships. In 1987, Roche was riding a Battaglin bike, which quickly became the icon of professional cycling’s greatest success. The bike was developed by Giovanni Battaglin at his workshop in Marostica, where all the bikes for the Carrera riders were made, and custom-built to Roche’s specifications. It was probably the most advanced racing machine on the market, featuring the best equipment available at the time. With the Officina Battaglin brand, Giovanni has gone back to building exclusive steel frames using the same process and tooling of 30 years ago. That’s why in 2017 he decided to mark the 30th anniversary of Stephen Roche’s Triple Crown with…the 1987. For more information about the limited edition Battaglin 1987, or if you would like to begin the process of ordering a frame, you can contact Officina Battaglin direct at: https://officinabattaglin.com/ or the Battaglin experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com Limited Edition Battaglin Verona 2022: On June 7, 1981, for the first time, the Giro ended in the Verona Arena, the Roman Amphitheater located in the city center. Giovanni Battaglin won that edition, after a 42-km individual time trial where he didn’t know he had won the Giro until he heard the crowd in the Arena chanting his name. It was his first Giro victory… And it was special for many other reasons. Not only did he became the first cyclist to win the Giro in the Arena… Not only did he became the first cyclist from the Veneto region to win a Giro d’Italia…He achieved a record still unmatched: two Grand-Tour victories in just 48 days, the shortest time frame ever. The city of Verona has changed Giovanni Battaglin’s life forever, laying the foundation for his eponymous bike brand. In consequence, every time the Giro d’Italia ends in the city of Verona, we like to commemorate the occasion. In 2022, with the Pink Race’s finishing line inside the Arena for the fifth time, we launched a frame named after the city itself… For more information about the limited edition Battaglin Verona 2022, or if you would like to begin the process of ordering a frame, you can contact Officina Battaglin direct at: https://officinabattaglin.com/ or the Battaglin experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com Battaglin Marosticana: “At the time, I used to live in San Luca di Marostica, a small town. Even today, there are little more than 500 residents. It was very small, with only a few people living there, and hardly anybody came to visit. The landscape, though, is a dream for any cyclist: hills at your back, you can ride flat for kilometers, and then start alternating between plains and short ascents (2km max). This is perfect to get your legs going at the start of the year. In the beginning, it’s better not to go uphill for too long, because if you do, you spend too much time with an increased pulse rate— and you’re not in that kind of shape yet. This meant we used to start with short climbs and plains, and then, as the days went by, we would turn towards Monte Grappa and the city of Asiago, to start pushing on longer climbs, up to twenty or so kilometers. That’s how we trained back then: gym and pedals. And that’s about it. We climbed into the saddle in the morning and didn’t stop until it was dark. […] My day started in San Luca di Marostica. I left home to meet Luciano. I lived on the hills, and he lived on the plains, so we used to meet halfway. We took the road to Schio and Recoaro: it was a pretty hard workout, with two or three climbs. Then we rode to Vicenza, to Luciano’s house, and then I could go back home. By the way: at the time, I used to live at the top of a 6km climb, which was perfect to end the workout session.” In the Veneto region in North-East of Italy, there’s a road that starts from the city of Vicenza and leads to the province of Treviso. In a span of just 79 km, this road takes you through some of the region’s most beautiful scenery with spectacular mountains, vineyard-covered hills and small villages giving you a glimpse into everyday life in Italy. And as you get closer to the town of Marostica, the world-famous medieval castle standing on a hill appears in front of you. The view is just wonderful. This road is called Marosticana, and it’s the road that Giovanni Battaglin would take in winter to pedal back home from Vicenza, after a full day of training on his steel bike. For Giovanni, creating the Officina Battaglin steel bike brand many years later meant going back to his roots. That’s why when the time came to give a name to the very first Officina Battaglin model, a lugged frame made from Columbus SL, he thought of those hard workouts through his home region. And he decided to pay homage to that road he would ride every day with the Marosticana. It was the only year in history when the Vuelta had no rest days and the Giro started 3 days after the Spanish Grand-Tour finished. From 1999 the Giro d’Italia course was never longer than 3.600 km – more than 200 km shorter than the 1981 edition. The same goes for the Vuelta: from 2001 the race route was always shorter than the 1981 edition. How could the riders in the 80s go further than today’s athletes, who ride lighter bikes equipped with better technology? There might be several explanations for this. But as Giovanni Battaglin often says, those riders could tackle harder competitions because they felt good on their bikes. The level of comfort offered by the lugged steel bikes made in the 80s allowed them to undertake the brutal efforts of those cycling odysseys. Lugs increase the joint area, allowing stresses to distribute over a wider surface and therefore damping vibrations better. In the 80s, lugged construction was the best way to build a race machine. Every bike in the pro peloton was made from skinny tubes and lugs. Then with larger tubes and new materials, steel lugs quickly disappeared from the market. But even when he gave in to what seemed inevitable and moved from steel to different materials, there was one thing that Giovanni Battaglin couldn’t forget: the smooth feel of those bikes he rode as a pro. No carbon bike could even get close to it. So, when he went back to making steel bikes with Officina Battaglin, a dream took shape in his mind. He wanted to create a new frame that could offer the comfort of the bikes he rode in his racing career. But with the responsiveness and the aesthetics of modern steel frames. From 2015 he and his son Alex worked for 2 years to develop a special design that no builder had ever done. In 2017, a new frame was born: For more information about the Battaglin Portofino, or if you would like to begin the process of ordering a frame, you can contact Officina Battaglin direct at: https://officinabattaglin.com/ or the Battaglin experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com Battaglin Portofino G: The Portofino G builds on the Portofino’s unique design, applying oversized lugs’ unparalleled combination of comfort and reactivity to rough terrain. Paired with purpose-built Columbus GB81 tubing, the proprietary lugs allow the frame to soak up bumps and vibrations while retaining a true road bike feel. With the Portofino G, you’ll be able to tackle more demanding road conditions with confidence, with instant acceleration when you climb or get out of the saddle. It’s a gravel bike that will take away the shoulder and back pain that often comes from riding poorly paved roads for long distances… But it won’t take away a road bike’s distinct sensation of speed and freedom. Like the Portofino R, its road counterpart, the Portofino G features Officina Battaglin’s new seat lug. Designed to accommodate a 31.6-mm seat post, the lug’s seatpost locking system employs an expander bolt clamp that allows more clamping pressure with less torque. There are no bolts in sight, making for a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing look. Officina Battaglin builds each custom frame with one goal: to create a dream bike that fits your specific preferences while offering you an unforgettable, personalized experience. Discussing the endless possibilities of a custom build requires a lot of time and dedication. Officina Battaglin and Lakeside Bicycles will maintain contact with you via phone calls, email updates, photos of the building process: but such a personal approach wouldn’t be possible if they focused their efforts on producing a huge number of pieces. That’s why they have decided to cap the annual production of the Portofino G at only 70 custom frames (or complete bikes). Each frame comes with a numbered plate brazed to the top tube that authenticates its uniqueness and will make it an exclusive item to treasure forever. The increased space of the T47 bottom bracket shell allows for a fully hidden cable routing setup even when the frame is assembled with a mechanical 1X groupset. This setup will make your custom Italian build look clean while letting you enjoy the benefits of the most advanced gravel bike technologies. No matter how dirty the terrain you ride may be: a custom bike designed and built for you should always look good and make you proud of it. And while matte paint has proven to be a safe choice for most gravel bikes, the best option to stand out from the pack even on gravel is our signature cromovelato. The model-specific paint scheme features polished chrome that fades to a cromovelato color through a chrome filigree. A look that is likely to turn heads, and a look that you’ll be able to personalize thanks to our premium cromovelato tints selection For more information about the Battaglin Portofino G, or if you would like to begin the process of ordering a frame, you can contact Officina Battaglin direct at: https://officinabattaglin.com/ or the Battaglin experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com Battaglin Portofino R: Since its inception, the Portofino has been Officina Battaglin’s flagship model. A lugged steel frame with oversized tubing: it was the perfect blend of the tradition of Italian steel frame building with modern tech and aesthetics. Over the last few years, the Portofino has seen several updates taking cues from the most advanced race bikes: tapered steerer, disc brakes, fully internal routing. But how close to a modern race-focused thoroughbred could a lugged steel bike get? Alex and Giovanni Battaglin had been feeling the need to push the Portofino toward the race side for a while. So, when the update project started, they focused on one single goal: achieving an increase in frame stiffness without compromising on comfort. First, they opted for a very different approach to the frame geometry by drastically lowering the seat stays. This implied redesigning the seat lug, which took a sharp departure from the classic shape accommodating the seat stays. But the new geometry also led to several adjustments to the rear triangle, with new flat chainstays and a new proprietary dropout. From there, the tubing diameters were increased. All combined, these major revisions led to the most dramatic change since the launch of the Portofino, the fastest Portofino version to date: The Portofino R retains the Portofino Classic’s distinctive identity. It’s a frame that prioritizes rider comfort, so you can enjoy the unparalleled smoothness of a handcrafted lugged steel bike. But it won’t take more than a few pedal strokes to feel like a pro on a breakaway: thanks to the increased stiffness, the Portofino R will give you the sensation you’re transferring every single watt of energy to the ground, with more power than ever. As a relentless innovator, Dr. Hon toiled in his garage for seven years to create the perfect folding bicycle that would uphold these ideals. After presenting his invention to several established but uninterested companies, Dr. Hon and his brother Henry decided establish their own company from scratch. The two gathered venture funding and established their headquarters in Southern California while Dr. Hon went to Taiwan to build Dahon's first factory. Two years later, in 1984, Dahon folding bicycles were rolling off the assembly line as the most compact folding bicycle on the market at that time. Under the continued leadership of Dr. Hon, now recognized as the father of the modern folding bike, Dahon and its team of 70 engineers continue to set the pace with new technologies and innovations. Production Primary production takes place in the company’s main factory in Shenzhen, China. Another facility, near Beijing, produces Dahon bikes for the Chinese market, which continues to grow strongly for the U.S.-based company. Beginning in 2012, all Dahon brand bikes destined for Europe will be made in Bulgaria. In a strategic partnership with Maxcom Ltd., the company is setting up a full-scale production base at one of the most modern facilities on the continent. All of the bikes for the European market will be made at the ISO 9001:2008-certified facility in Plovdiv, which specializes in the manufacturing of bicycles and features state-of-the-art machining technology and modern quality inspection equipment. Folding Bikes Most Dahon bicycles use a patented single hinge frame design, whereby the handlebar folds down and the frame hinge swings to the left, leaving the handlebar inside. Biggest sellers are the models with 16 or 20 inch wheels, but models are available with wheels from 12 inches to 700C. Models are available with derailleur or hub gear shifter, or both or none. Models For 2012 Dahon offers 28 models of folding or portable bicycles in wheel sizes ranging from 16-26” with aluminum alloy or steel frames. Most of the 2012 offerings are true folding bicycles with some, like the Tarazed mountain bike, using Dahon "Flat Pak" technology. One of the company's best selling bikes is the Boardwalk D7, an entry-level, steel-frame commuter bike. Special bikes In 2008 to celebrate 25 years of production Dahon produced a special edition based on the Mµ series of bikes - the Mµ XXV. 250 of these machines were produced. In March 2009 they announced that they would produce 1,000 sets of a special edition bike based on its Curve D3 folding bike with the Spanish design firm Kukuxumusu. 2012 marks the company's 30th anniversary and Dahon have produced 300 limited edition bikes to honor the occasion, along with 3,000 more affordable replicas. Awards Dahon received an Innovative Products Award each for a folding bike entry and a suspension postpump, which combined an air suspension system and bicycle pump inside a single seatpost, at the 2009 Taipei International Cycle Show. In September 2009, Dahon's Ios XL, a bike designed for the urban commuter, was awarded a Eurobike Gold Design Award. Only 77 entries out of a total of 400 applicants from the bicycle industry worldwide were awarded with Eurobike Awards in 2009, and out of those only eight received a Gold Award for outstanding achievements in design and innovation. Other awards include a 2005 Eurobike award the Ciao! mini bike, a 2006 Eurobike award for the Glide P7/P8, 2006 Fiets RAI Dutch Bi
