Great Indoor Training Option

About Me Competitive Cyclist

Comments:

I bought these a few years ago and they are still in great shape. I pull them out when outdoor riding becomes difficult. They roll well and are great training for smoothing out my pedal stroke. I like that I have to maintain my balance as well as being able to get in a good workout. I don't get bored on these like I can on a regular trainer. They fold up to a nice storable size when not in use.

Sturdy Construction + Great Workout

About Me Commuter

Comments:

I commute 5 days of the week and try to ride for as much of the year as I can. Being from the northeastern US, snowstorms can get in the way sometimes. I wanted something to keep me in shape and keep my body in sync with my own bicycle in the off season. I did a fair amount of research before finally deciding on rollers as opposed to other forms of indoor cycling. From what I can tell, these rollers provide the most effective workout and the most realistic ride. After 20-30 minutes on the rollers, I am sweatier than any other workout I can think of (except Bikram, obviously). I always set these up in a hallway to ride. It would be extremely difficult to get onto your bike and start riding without a wall or railing to hold yourself steady against. I think the best way to figure out how to use the rollers properly is to watch a few videos on youtube of other riders and then just hop on and give it a shot. My biggest complaint is the noise, but I realize that any bike trainer will be noisy from all the vibrations. I get a sort of squeaky rubber on metal sound from the tires whenever I ride, even if I clean the rollers off after each use. I wonder if anybody has had a similar experience and whether or not the PVC rollers have this issue. Just a weird side note--I used to work at a custom fabrication shop and out of general engineering curiosity, I put together a quote on how much it might cost us to fabricate a pair of rollers out of similar materials with the same form and function. The wholesale materials alone (bearings, tubing, aluminum rollers, etc) cost more than these rollers do. This doesn't do much for me except help me feel ever-so-slightly better about the price tag. Anyway, great product. I would highly recommend these to anybody who is serious about riding. A+

About Me Competitive Cyclist

Comments:

These are outstanding rollers. Considered others and researched the Cycleops. They are well built for cycleops and I've ridden them at least 2000 miles since I've gotten them. They are quiet, durable and very portable. After about 8 months, I swapped out the rear roller with a sportscrafters overdrive drum and now I have a very stout set of rollers. Great buy.

Solid and relatively quiet

Comments:

I've been using these for 2 full years now and I can attest that they are pretty solid/durable for the price and also relatively quiet. Note that I've put these over top of one of those yoga mat (rubberized mat) on top of hardwood floor and this might actually help in dampening the noise. I don't have the resistance attachment but I might actually be getting one later next year.

Comments:

My wife bought these for me because I just couldn't get into a stationary trainer. These are much more mentally engaging and allow me get through an indoor workout when the weather is poor. The rollers seem to be high quality and they come pre-assembled in the box. The setup is quite simple and adjusting them to the right size for a bike is quick and easy. This is my first set of rollers but I am very pleased.

Best overall training tool

About Me Fitness Enthusiast

Comments:

Rollers have helped me improve my triathlon times and maintain overall fitness year round. Do not be discouraged learning to use them - it feels like learning to ride a bike all over again. I could not let go of the wall for at least the first 5 tries - youtube videos helped. Be persistent - once you get it, you become a more technical cyclist, more aware of cadence, pedal stroke, feel and balance on the bike. I noticed a nice improvement in aerobic capacity, balance and confidence this past spring when I hit the roads again.

About Me

Comments:

I use the rollers for training and when it is too cold to get out. I was worried about using rollers, I took the plunge and after 5 minutes my worries vanished. I felt like bambi on ice at the start, but relax, look forward, keep pedalling and it's great. Smooth, quiet and effective. Great build and quality as you would expect. Highly recommended. Good investment, set to last years.

A great smooth ride

About Me

Comments:

I leave the rollers set up in my house year round. When it is not desirable or possible to ride outdoors, the rollers offer a unique training experience that is always available. Using the rollers is a totally different riding experience, and can be much more demanding than riding outdoors. Pedaling must be very smooth and consistent. There is no opportunity to coast while using the rollers, Balancing on the rollers is much more difficult than riding the bike on the road and there is a definite, but very satisfying learning curve to mastering this type of riding. For me,the optional resistance accessory was not necessary. Using the gears and varying the pace of pedaling offers an unlimited range of resistance. The unit comes fully assembled, runs very quietly and is easy to set up with no tools required. The only adjustment is to move the front roller to accommodate the size of the bike. Another nice feature of the rollers, as opposed to other devices that require the bike to be mechanically connected, is that, when outdoor riding is desired, the bike instantly lifts off the rollers with no disassembly and after the outdoor ride, the bike instantly goes back on the rollers with no assembly required.

About Me

Comments:

I'm a reborn cyclist trying to enter my 1st competitive race after a 25yr hiatus. I believe I've chosen the right roller (with resistance)trainer. After two practice sessions I am now full-out into my indoor training program. This unit is easy to set-up, easy to get my balance, and options to increase resistance will definitely be in my future plans.
