Materials:

Steel is the gold material used by the Italian cycle industry. From here we will leave. For our top frames we use thermally treated Dedacciai pipes: an important specification that defines the processing, performance and final cost of the frame. Milling and assembling material of this level is much more expensive in terms of preparation and execution. Moreover, this is the indispensable premise for obtaining the most performing product. A treated frame, in fact, is lighter than a "normal" one, because it uses thinner and at the same time thinner and more reactive, more alive, more competitive tubes. To respond to the specific requests of those cyclists who favor comfort, in our workshop we make frames using also die-hardened pipes. The construction quality and finish remains unchanged in all our models, whether they are aimed at the competitive public or the more purely amateur

Aluminuml is born overseas. Or rather, its applications to cycling are specific to the US industry. In Italy, where it has always seemed exotic, it has visibly imposed itself in recent seasons. He appears in these notes after two years of "understanding" the reactions during the welding process. The period of experimentation was necessary to guarantee our aluminum frames the same executive quality as those in steel. Beyond the diameters of the tubes, which must necessarily be changed, there is the same family atmosphere between our steel and aluminum frames. The welds are alive: this means that the cords are also visible in aluminum, unlike what a certain local taste would impose. Constructively, childish, file the cords and make a mistake, as the operation weakens the knots of junction. All our frames are subjected to post-weld heat treatment of artificial aging.

Steel Road:

MARCELO:  The latest Dedacciai material is called EOM16.5, an abbreviation that defines a micro-alloyed steel with boron components. The mechanical performances are unbelievable, with a modulable break as a function of the thermal treatment close to 160 kg / mm2, an elongation close to 10%. The MARCELO frame is strictly "oversized", with a 38 mm diagonal, 37.7 horizontal seat tube and 1 "1/8 headset. We preferred to use round section tubes because they offer the best compromise between lateral stiffness and resistance to the torsion The rear carriage is made with horizontal hinges of generous diameter in the dropout area, the graft in the movement box has a double oriented ellipse, the verticals have a cylindrical section with a diameter of 18 mm. of two pieces, one made from stainless steel in CNC and the other, in the form of a half-dome, obtained from a piece of filing tube. The framset includes the Mizuno carbon fork.

The MENSAJE model is made with Dedacciai 18MCDV6 HT steel pipes, until last season the top material of the Lombard company. The triangle has a 30 mm diameter seat tube, with the necessary reduction to 27.2 mm in the area of coupling with the seat post, a horizontal drawn with LPT profile starting from a round diameter 31.7 mm and a diagonal, born from a round of 35 millimeters in diameter, whose double profiling is designed to best contrast the flexotorsion of the triangle. Also in this case the "oversize" 1 1/8 headset, a solution that gives greater stability to the front axle. The rear stay and the dropouts are similar to those of the MARCELO. Supplied for PEGORETTI in steel with 26 blades mm, on request Mizunio carbon fork.

Also DUENDE is made with 18MCDV6 HT treated steel. The principal triangle is characterized by a diagonal which, starting from a tube with a diameter of 38 mm, is brought to the final LTP form (46X30mm) per die. The same happens with the horizontal, a round of 31.7 mm, deformed up to assume a section of 35.5X 29 mm. The tubular elements that make up the rear undercarriage have a geometry designed by us, stretched on one side to minimize the dispersion of pedaling energy, on the other to absorb shocks. For this purpose, the horizontal sliders, with an original diameter of 24 mm have a double ellipse oriented at the point of engagement with the bush, with the major axis parallel to the ground plane. On the vertical sheaths, with a conical section of 18 mm in diameter, we have shortened the length of the connection cone to the dropout, which now measures 60 mm. The frameset includes the PEGORETTI fork, with a microfused head and 26 mm sheaths

PALOSANTO, a precious wood known by us as rosewood, is the basis of flamenco. It constitutes one of the essential essences in the construction of guitars. We could not have baptized this model differently, since with him we have inaugurated our experience as designers. PALOSANTO, in fact, marks the beginning of the collaboration with Dedacciai: the reflection on design gave rise in 1993 to a steel pipeline designed specifically for TIG welding. The contained diameters should satisfy the eye of the purists, that is, of those who recognize themselves in an "oversized", not excessively "oversized". Thus, the main triangle of this model has a diagonal tube of 31.7 mm, a horizontal 28.6 mm and a vertical 30 mm; as for the rear undercarriage, the characteristics are similar to those of the DUENDE model. The frameset includes PEGORETTI fork with microfused head and 26 mm diameter sheaths

Made of steel and exclusively made-to-measure, TANGUILLOS is available in all-round or LPT versions, the specifications of which are given in the appropriate table. It is the only frame made with untreated tubes, the serious 18MCDV6. This type of pipe behaves very well in cases where docility and softness are sought after by those who favor comfort over competitive spirit. To transmit all the pedaling energy and to avoid bending, we have chosen horizontal sliders with a diameter of 22.2 mm at the entrance of the box; for the vertical ones we have instead adopted an "oversized" solution, with a diameter of 18 mm, a decisive characteristic for the purposes of the reactivity and rigidity of the wagon

TIG WELDING:

The joints of our frames are made with the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) technique, a process that in the most up-to-date framework has progressively replaced the conjunctions. The TIG, in addition to freeing the frame from the diameters of the tubes and from the corners of the frame, offers the advantage of minimizing the loss of mechanical performance suffered by the material after exposure to heat during the jointing phase. During the welding cycle, the area involved in the fusion of the weld material is protected by a puff of inert gas (argon), which preserves it from deleterious oxidation phenomena. In all the welding phases we protect the back of the joint, introducing inert gas also inside the pipes and, thus, we get the complete protection of the frame. The rod of filler material that we use and selected for the quality and purity of the alloy. In the case of steel frames, all the components (bushes, wire-ends, bottle cages, etc.) are applied by brazing, using low-temperature and high-percentage of silver filler alloys. In the aluminum models they are instead glued and riveted

Aluminum Road:

The setting is the same as the MARCELO in steel. Top model of the aluminum range, this frame owes its name to the poignant song interpreted by Caetano Veloso, FINA ESTAMPA, that is "well made". The aluminum, supplied by Dedacciai, and the unpublished SC61.10A, subjected to a surface treatment called KET (Kinetic Energy Treatment), designed to increase the already high mechanical performance (Breaking load at the state of supply: slightly less than 48 kg / mm2; elongation 9%). To the front all-round triangle is coupled a carriage with horizontal sheaths of particular rectangular section and vertical sheaths with a diameter of 22 mm, a geometric solution that increases the rigidity of the assembly to the benefit of the transfer of energy in pedaling. It was necessary to design the dropouts from the CNC, made by the artisan Remo Castagnino of FRO Components. The frameset includes the Mizuno carbon fork with unthreaded tube.

BUENA VISTA is the second aluminum frame of our '99 line and owes its name to the Caribbean masterpiece of guitarist Ry Cooder. To achieve this we have chosen the well-proven Dedacciai aluminum in the 7003 series; also in this case, the frame, once welded, is subjected to artificial aging treatment. The head tube is "oversized" by 1-1 / 8 ", as are all our top models. At the front all-round triangle, a rear carriage is coupled with horizontal blades of particular rectangular section and with 22 mm diameter vertical blades. This geometric solution increases the rigidity of the whole to the advantage of the best energy transfer during pedaling. The rear stays are joined to "custom" dropouts, made with CNC machines by the craftsman Remo "Fro Components" Castagnino. The frameset includes the Mizuno carbon fiber fork with unthreaded tube.

Even the MTB frames are made exclusively to measure based on the morphological characteristics of the biker and the chosen suspension fork model. In the case of the steel POGO STICK we use the Dedacciai 18MCDV6 HT series. This frame pursues the "oversize" idea, which has marked our production since the late 1980s. This results in a generous 38 mm diameter down tube, a horizontal tube and a 31.7 mm vertical tube, in vertical and horizontal rear sheaths with a round and unconfined section, 18 and 24 mm in diameter respectively. To underline our propensity to oversize, we supply 1-1/4" steering tubes and headsets on request.

Among the details of the frame stand out the dropouts, assembled by welding two pieces, one made from stainless steel with CNC machines and the other, in the form of a half-dome, obtained from a piece of filing tube.

The range of MTB frames is availablein two materials,

steel and aluminum united by the same geometric line

POGO STICK ALU is a novelty that breaks with the 1999 production line. While maintaining the geometric line of the steel brother in its essential features, it has tube diameters in keeping with the material used, the Dedacciai 7003 aluminum. The frame, once assembled, it is subjected to an artificial aging that allows to recover the mechanical characteristics inevitably altered during the welding process. A diagonal tube measuring 42 millimeters in diameter is coupled with a 31.7 millimeter horizontal tube and a 35 millimeter vertical tube. The rear undercarriage is assembled with dropouts made from a block of 7020 aluminum worked with CNC machines. The horizontal shafts have a rectangular section (23X17 millimeters), with the indispensable slalom profile for the MTB, while the vertical ones have a square section of 17X17 millimeters. Also POGO STICK ALU is available with a 1-1/4" steering tube and headset.

Performance of Meterials:

STEEL frames are made with tubes whose final mechanical characteristics guarantee the highest performance, thanks to the alloys used, the processing systems used and the final heat treatment*. The high tensile strength in particular, and the result of cold plastic deformation (drawing) and heat treatment. The MARCELO uses the brand new Dedacciai EOM 16.5 alloy which further increases the already superb performance of the 18MCDV6 HT alloy, which we use for the MENSAJE, DUENDE and PALOSANTO models.

* With the exception of the TANGUILLOS model, made of untreated steel.

The aluminum frames are made with Dedacciai piping of the 7000 series, in the T6 state. This final heat treatment, combined with artificial aging, gives the alloy the maximum resistance to breakage, yielding, impact and stress. For the FINA ESTAMPA frame we use the brand new SC61.10A series, characterized in terms of surface treatment (KET, Kinetic Energy Treatment), which leads to a considerable increase in the mechanical strength of the alloy (up to 30% compared to an alloy of 7000 series). In the case of the BUENA VISTA model we use 7003 aluminum.

Tube Geometry:

The structural element of the frame, that is to say the pipe, has undergone in these years a vertiginous functional and aesthetic evolution as far as diameters and shape are concerned. In addition to the precision in making the frames, we have always given the utmost importance to the design of the tubular elements, for the purpose of yield and starting from the principle that aesthetics must in any case be combined with the functionality of the whole.

The Dedacciai company offered us the opportunity to think, together with its technicians and designers, of new geometric tube solutions, which we then adopt in our production. More generally, we have always believed that tubes with diameters higher than those established by "tradition" are at the origin of better performance.

This is the path we follow, from the head tube to the rear stays, which in all the models of our production are exclusively made for us by Dedacciai.

"We have learned a lot of what we do from Gino Milani. Little known to the general public, he was one of the most scintillating interpreters of the Italian frame of the seventies, collaborator of the main Italian companies of the time.

We moved to the Illasi workshop, in the province of Verona, at the beginning of 1990, when Milani Cicli closed its doors. In the middle of a valley known for its vineyards, we opened our business. We produce high-quality TIG welded frames, and pipe joining technique that we have experimented with since 1987, among the first in Italy, using the pipes of the French company Excell.

From 1991 to 1997 we collaborated with Pinarello in the construction of frames for road professionals and in the development of pipe geometries, which led to the production of the DynaLite and Radius series, made by Dedacciai.

Since 1997 we directly address enthusiasts with a production in limited edition. Our work consists in making frames using the best materials available, which we choose based on the morphological characteristics of the cyclist and the type of use."
