The Background
On February 28th Colnago launched its first model designed ride with equal smoothness on tarmac as well as on light dirt roads: the C68 Allroad
With cyclists' needs becoming more and more refined, Colnago is dedicating a frame to those who are looking for adventures and who are happy to keep going further when the smooth road ends.
The C68 Allroad is part of the C Series, the range of bicycles that represents the historical ontinuity of the Colnago brand, as well as epitomizing their superb craftsmanship.
The C68 Allroad will be produced exclusively by hand in Italy. The knowledge and skills derived from years of experience in bicycle design and construciton will be brought to the endurance segment.

"C" stands for Carbon, Colnago, Cambiago, Class. "68" represents how far Colnago has come since the year in which they were founded, 1954.
C Series models are dedicated to the handmade multi-part Italian traditional processes and to those who love road bikes with a unique and exclusivedesign.
Colnago announces another top-of-range model, the "V", which is dedicated to races: Colnago racing bike, the UAE Team Emirates and UAE Team ADQ bike.

What is the C68 Allroad?
The C68 Allroad is a dedicated version of the C68, a range of bicycles that best expresses the concept of "handmade in Italy". The C68 Allroad stays true to the essential Colnago DNA. The C68's soul is based on performance without sacrificing enjoyment.
Clean design, integration and modernity are the core of the project.
The C68 Allroad departs from the standard C68 in employing specific geometies designed to make the frame more compact and comfortable and with a wider tire clearance than it's pure racing siblling.

C68 Allroad will be available in 6 sizes, all sloping: 430, 460, 490, 520, 550, and 580cm.
Stack has been increased on average by 19mm and Reach has been reduced by 3.5mm.
Bottom Bracked drop is increased by up to 4mm.
The seat tube angle is kept the same as the original C68, 74.5 degrees in th 490cm size

Increased Fork Rake: the Colnago C68 Allroad's fork adds 7mm to the rake of the road frame, with the same fork for all frame sizes. The trail is reduced from the standard 43mm, but is balanced by larger width tires resulting in a similar, overall geometry.

The derailleur hanger, seatpost clamp and axles components are borrowed from the road version
The Colnago C68 Allroad is designed to only work with Electronic Groupsets.

Decreasing the reach while increasing stack puts the rider in a more relaxed position, with their upper body in a more upright position and with their arms less streatchd out. This takes some of the weight off of the hands and puts more weight on the saddle.
While aerodynamics will be compromised, overall rider comfort is improved over the long haul, especially for the back and neck.

Bigger Tires increase overall bike height, lift the Bottom Bracket, and add a tiny amount of trail. The center of mass of the whole system (bike + ridere) gets taller, as a result reducing the bottom bracket height will restore the balance in the position of the center of mass. Becasue of the intended use for the Colnago C68 Allroad (road and light off-road), ground clearance is not altered from that of the road version.
Nominal tire clearance is 35mm, but since tire dimension vary from brand to brand that spacing is not guaranteed (see the photo to the left).

How does the Colnago blockchain system work? |
An NFC tag is installed on every C68 bicycle, inextricably llinked to the frame, that allows access to information in the digital passport of the bicycle, whose data is saved in the blockchain, via the Colnago appfor IOS and Android smartphones.
The digital passport enables the owner to have the information about their bicycle within reach at any time, collected, rationalized andavailable in a dedicated "Vault", thus enabling the conservation and avoiding possible loss of the certificate as is often the case with paper documents.
Access is guaranteed to the owner when their Colnago smart card is brought close to the smartphone for access.
